here are some pics of my 1960 cabinair, the motor is a 1964 Mercury 50 hp. It was the 25th anniversary edition of Keickenhofer Mercury. The boat and motor were stored away for years in a boat house, I doubt the motor has 500 hours on it. it is like showroom condition. The boat is in mint condition as well. I am thinking of selling so if you know anyone who may be interested pass along my email address to them.

Hi Doug, the serial #is 2189, I don't know if that tells you anything. I am not even sure that it is a 1960. That is what I was told when I bought it. The original owner was a gent by the name H. L. Kirby, Name plate is still on the dash. Supposedly he purchased the boat at the Winnipeg boat show in 1960. It originally came with a Mccullogh Motor which of course ran backwards hence the left hand controls and steering. The tale as I was told was that Mccullogh motors were not all that great and the second season out (summer '61) gave up the ghost. The boat was put away in the boathouse for a year and in 64 Mr. Kirby purchased the 64 50 hp. merc.. He used the boat as a lake crosser to get to his camp on Lake of the Woods for a couple of years until he purchased a larger, faster boat. The boat was again stored away in the boat house and used very infrequent and then not at all. 25-30 years later when the cabin was sold the boat transfered ownership along with the cabin. The new owner left it there for a couple of years before pulling it out and bringing it to a Mercury Motor shop to have it checked out. They checked it out, started it up and told him it was in mint shape with very low hours, all factory seals and parts still intact. He never took it back just cruised it on the Red River a couple of times and then put it out on the road with a For Sale sign which is where my buddy Todd found it. Todd brought to our lake a couple of times where I fell in love with it. When Todd blew up his sled during the winter and needed some cash, he gave me first dibbs. I could not refuse. The rest is History. - May 2006
