Deboanire - special floorboards - Sep 2006

A bit of history on the debonaire- I might have told you already, it has
been sitting near our cottage for at least 20 yrs., until a cottager bought
it to play with. Of course no motor, needs new transom, etc., and to really
upset the then new owner, the 55 Johnson he bought turned out to not spark
at all- after being assured it was A-1. So, he offered it to me, and of
course I jumped at that. And as can be seen, it has been cleaned up, it has
new transom, it has a working 40 hp. ski twin that starts instantly, new
backrests, and a somewhat anusual floor -you do need shades on a sunny day
when getting in, but on the bright side (pardon the pun), you will tan
evenly- under chin, under your arms, back of legs, etc. It is absolutely a
pleasure to have worked on it, and a greater pleasure to go for a slow ride
to the marina, grocery store, pick up people, and so on. There is still more
fun ahead, as the 1959 Merc. Mark 35 A, is almost ready to replace the fine
Evinrude.
