Hello Doug thanks for putting collage on website anyways I'm from Winnipeg and bought the boat on Kijiji from a guy who was gonna restore it but never did paid him 2000 for it and was gonna fix motor it came with and get it running but was inspired by watching a YouTube video on solar boat project and decided to try it with aroliner.
I bought two solar panel kits from Costco for 199 each connected them to two everstart Walmart marine batteries that were 140 each one free trolling motor 30 lb torqe and another trolly motor I bought 55 lb torqe Minn kota i paid at fishing hole for 400 connected them all up works great. I have gone all spring on ten trips fishing half days to full days and not once charge batteries the boat goes about 5 km an hour but is silent on the water and has no gas smells it's a wonderful project and I am totally happy with outcome of it the red River current doesn't effect it too much and I have gone without sun for 3 days of rain until batteries showed low the aroliner hard top fits two solar panels perfectly and the boat is nice and light so it's works very well as technology advances and batteries become smaller and cheaper and solar panels will get cheaper too then I will upgrade to more pwerful electric motor but as for now I totally love my solar boat and it does a great job fishing all day every time I pass someone they ask questions and say it's so cool anyways I don't have many pics but I will take more this week during our fishing trip to caddy lake and north cross thanks for your time Doug and I hope I answered most your questions anything else u need just email have wonderful day Thanks TL |
